Charles Hobson gained his industrial experience in the electricity industry and then with the IBM Corporation for almost 30 years where his management roles included:
• Account executive
• Marketing centre manager
• UK process re-engineering manager

In his third career, at Manchester Business School, Charles was appointed professorial fellow in executive development and led the team that designed and delivered customised executive education programmes for many of the School’s largest clients between 2000 and 2004.
Today, his main interest lies in Executive Facilitation, working with senior management teams and enabling them to improve their organisation’s alignment and performance, particularly in the areas of:
• Development and implementation of business strategy
• Mission and vision
• Key business processes such as Relationship Management, Service Delivery and Communications
Charles’ coaching and facilitation skills help both individuals and teams to achieve their goals quickly and effectively and his advice and guidance is frequently sought, accepted and acted on by directors and senior managers

Style
I work primarily with senior management teams, helping them to get clear about where they want to go, how they’re going to get there and how they’ll manage the journey.
The clients I work with cover both the public sector and the private sector and vary in size from small partnerships to large corporations and government departments.
What seems to appeal to my clients is my past experience as a manager in IBM coupled with my knowledge of business strategy.
Topics covered in my vision and strategy workshops include some or all of: the external environment, market analysis, competitors, financial strengths, organisational strengths, organisational culture and value chains.
A solid working knowledge of NLP, coaching and project management adds significant value to the service I offer my clients.
Executive Coaching
I work as a business coach rather that a personal coach. Having looked at a variety of coaching models and styles, I keep coming back to the simple but very effective (in my view) GROW model and the LOGICAL LEVELS model (Robert Dilts)
Facilitation
I’ve worked as a facilitator for 15 years, starting with management teams in IBM. As the value of this work was recognised, I sponsored a 1 week basic facilitation skills course within IBM UK and then sponsored and supported the network of 50 or so facilitators who operated / continue to operate in IBM and now other organisations.
